The Green Mile – Stephen King. A man in the fall of his life recounts his terrible yet magical, transformative experience. The Green Mile was originally published as a series of shorter volumes, similar in format to LA FOG, which I can only hope works half as well.

Shutter Island – Dennis Lehane. A U.S. Marshal, with a troubled past sent to investigate a dissapearance, learns that nothing is what it seems. He becomes determined to expose the truth, but as he peels back the layers he discovers a truth too shocking to believe. 

Jar of Hearts – Jennifer Hillier. When you consume so many stories that the plots start to blur together, it’s time to open up the Jar of Hearts. Never read anything quite like this chilling tale!

The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires – Grady Hendrix.  In an idillic Southern town where a monster manipulates the assumptions and prejudices of the local residents in order to prey upon them, a mom who avoids problems must put her life on the line to save her family.
